Well-related three-year-old Cote De Nuits has continued the royal start to the New Year for Sir Peter Vela.
His familiar colours were to the fore at Ellerslie on Wednesday with the victory of Ethereal’s daughter Duquesa and at Tauranga on Thursday it was the winning turn of the Roger James-trained Cote De Nuits.
“He’ll improve from here and I think he can go on with it,” James said.
By Stravinsky, Cote De Nuits is out of Madame Echezeaux, an unraced half-sister to Darci Brahma and Burgundy.
