Silent Achiever Named Champion Stayer

The deeds of brilliant racemare Silent Achiever were recognised at the 2014 New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Awards last Friday, with the Roger James-trained mare voted as Champion Stayer of the Year.

Silent Achiever had completed a Group One treble during the season, which included a breath-taking victory over 2014 NZ Horse of the Year Dundeel in The BMW (2400m) at Randwick, the memorable win coming on top of Group One victories over 2000m in both the New Zealand Stakes and Ranvet Stakes.

Kevin Hickman, Silent Achiever's owner-breeder, also bred top juvenile Vespa and won the awards for both owner and breeder of the year.

Silent Achiever will trial at Taupo on Wednesday before heading to Melbourne to contest the Group One Memsie Stakes at Caulfield on August 30.
